Children’s Pentecost Mass

On Pentecost Sunday, a designated Children’s Mass was held in the Parish.  We were grateful for the support of the parents and students from our school who came along to celebrate the mass, especially members of the choir.

The next Children’s Mass will be held on Sunday, August 10 at 5pm. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Trinity Sunday

This Sunday we celebrate the Feast of The Most Holy Trinity.

Every time we make the Sign of the Cross we say, “In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”  It is the first prayer we teach our Prep students.  The prayer expresses the mystery of the Most Holy Trinity, that God reveals himself in Three Persons: The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

This is difficult for anyone to understand, especially young children. The truth is that it is okay if we do not fully understand the Trinity. That’s what makes it a mystery. There are some things that we know are true because of our faith, even if we do not completely understand them.

 Body and Blood of Christ

Next Sunday, we celebrate the feast of the Body and Blood of Christ also known as Corpus Christi.  This important feast was instituted by Christ at the Last Supper when according to Luke’s Gospel, Christ took a piece of bread, gave thanks to God, broke it, and gave it to them saying, “This is my body which is given for you.  Do this in memory of me.”

The celebration of the Body of Christ is available to us anew each time we accept the Eucharist at Mass.  When we come together at the Eucharist, Jesus is present offering us life.  In the same way in which ordinary food nourishes human life, the Eucharist nourishes the life of Christ in the believer.  In coming together at the Eucharist, Jesus is present, offering us life within the family of His Church on earth.
